Dharma, is the most talked about topic in Hindu and Buddhist religion and still most of us fail to understand the meaning of “Dharma”, and sadly is not understood due it’s utmost simplicity.
Questions like; “is my religion, my dharma?”, “ Can I call my work, my dharma?”, “is looking after the wellbeing of my family, my dharma?”, or “is my contribution to the society, my dharma?”. And if answer to any of them is yes, “how should I function, manage and live for myself and for the Dharma?”
Dharma or Dhamma is law of being, it is the law of universe, and the inhabitants of the universe and also the religion that is created by man.
Dharma is that live wire that keeps the universal balance and together creating harmony between all its creations.
Dharma’s foremost proactive teaching is to understand and accept your core being and latter to rest. But, the question rings in the head is , HOW? How Dharma helps to understand and accept one’s core being and rest. And what is law of universe? Answer to both questions is as simple as we breath, it is a natural phenomenon that deals with out psychologyfrom every aspect of life.
Many cultures and people across the globe consider dharma as religion and if they follow their religious beliefs and dogmas they are following dharma – which is far from the truth.
In religion you can workshop gods, goddess or any deity but dharma is the law – you cannot worship it – we just need to follow it.
The truth of dharma is that it can-not be seen or is not containable or tangible but still exists in the core of a being, as a fine balance.
Dharma helps you to learn what makes you angry, happy, calm, upset; what and when to let go of emotions that causes much damage to your soul; and primary to differentiate emotions from action. Which means, understanding your situation to act in best interest of everyone.
Therefore, Dharma is an art of living. We can see dharma every where, in everyone , all you need is awareness. Without awareness you tent to miss out the obvious and your mind will not help you analyse information to the best interest of all.
One has to be aware, otherwise you can miss the obvious! And dharma is the obvious, God is the obvious. It is not a complicated, complex thing.
WHEEL OF DHARMA
There are four wheels to the cart of dharma:
- Bhakti – feeling of surrender, pure love.
- Shakti – strength, courage to face and analyse the truth of situation & self without judgment
- Karma – action, to take necessary when needed without worrying about the reward.
- Gyan – Knowledge turned into wisdom that helps making the decisions ones we have analysed the information at hand.
To embark the journey of self-exploration, meditation is the most hands-on approach followed by spiritual gurus.
The benefit of meditation not only introduces you to your emotions but also, shows the ways to handle and be mindful of it which, opens the gateway to soul and this is how, one can discover about ones Dharma – the desire of soul and how to fulfill them.
